The first collection of my BA Textile Design (Hons) degree, inspired by African colour meanings and poppies.
'African Artisan' was the first set project brief that I had been given by my University to begin my Second Year of Textile Design. The brief stated that I should take inspiration from all things African, including their textiles, landscape, animals and plants. My design inspiration narrowed down to flowers, which was then narrowed to specifically poppies. My colour choices also reflected African culture, since I used colours that had certain meanings, such as peace and harmony. My fabrics were created using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and were then printed using a Mimaki Digital Printer. The video below shows my designs being printed.
